A slab fails from the bottom up. Here's what's in every bid we write — and what a cheaper bid is usually leaving out.
Dirt work, then 4–6 inches of compacted base rock. This is the step that decides whether your slab cracks in year three.
#4 rebar on 18-inch centers, chaired up off the base so it sits in the middle of the slab where it actually does something.
4,000 PSI air-entrained concrete — the air matters in Kansas, where slabs freeze and thaw a dozen times a winter.
Control joints cut within 24 hours at the right spacing, then cure and seal. Concrete cracks; joints decide where.
